There's a lot of dust in the heat vents of my CPU tower (Sony Vaio); I suppose the best way would be to take off the case, vacuum, and wipe, but I'm lazy; anyone know if using the (non-moving) upholstery brush attachment of a floor vacuum might damage something inside the case? What about the little but suprisingly expensive vacuums made for PC's? (I think J&R sells one for about eighty dollars, or a dust buster?.

Since you are lazy as you say, I suggest you get someone else to clean your computer for you. Since I am lazy as well, I will not use Google to find the many articles dealing pc cleaning. But I do have one warning; a vacuum cleaning brush may cause static levels that can damage you computer in ways that may not show up right away.

The most recent computer case I bought has removable dust filters on the front intakes. To clean, I shut down the computer, remove the filters, and vacuum them.

I'll never buy a computer case without them again...

If the vents are clogging, it also has a lot of dust inside on the cpuu fan, video fan, power supply fan, etc.

I just take off my case cover and take it outside and blow it out with compressed air.
