Way o go Ergo! An IQ of 60 is something to be proud of these days!
--Someone congratulated Ergo on his 60th birthday, and Fled had this
to say.

Fled,
I have spent 34 years of my life working with the mentally
retarded, physically handicapped and other disabilities. I have
been the administrator of a sheltered worshop for the
developmentally disabled for the past 27 1/2 years. Our program is
being named as a pilot program for the entire state. All state
programs will be modeled after it in the future. I have a fair
understanding of I.Q. and the importance or lack of importance of
it. As such, I do not consider that an insult. I have been
fortunate to spend my entire adult life helping the disabled and
will continue to do that with a great deal of pride in what I do
and with whom I am so lucky to work. I learn something from
disabled people every day and try to help them when I can.
I think you meant to type: Way to go Ergo! An I.Q. of 60 is
something to be proud of these days! Not: Way o go Ergo! An IQ of
60 is something to be proud of these days!
Erg (60)
NOTHING is more important than having a great friend or a tall sheep!

'cuz I'm lost as to context, perhaps?
I didn't read the thread, only the link posted, so perhaps I missed
something?
The reason I ask is because from reading the remark about I.Q., I
didn't get the visceral reaction that others did, in fact it sounds
a lot like many of the quips, jabs and joking remarks that are
regularly exchanged on this forum, especially between tim, ergo, KK
and others. Yes, it could be a bit of a biting remark, perhaps, but
I don't see it as inherently evil or obviously intended as a
serious assessment of intelect. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised
to see Erg, himself, make such a remark!
Now, maybe I'm just wrong.
Maybe others are over-reacting.
Maybe some folks are overly sensitive to remarks about Erg, as many
of us are aware (to some degree) of his special situation.
Maybe someone needs a nap?
If I'm just not aware of context or impact, please tell me.

You're right of course... I we Todd did... I sofa king we Todd did.I think you meant to type: Way to go Ergo! An I.Q. of 60 is

--Your confusion in this "conveniently politically correct" forum is
quite understandable. It's amazing how easily people in society
today are set off when they want to be set off. Apparently, you
didn't want to be set off... but don't fret - I'm quite certain you
are in the majority. I'm sure most the people who regularly read
this forum read the comment and brushed it off as the "quip, jab
and/or joking remark" that it was.
But isn't it fun to watch people overreact? Sprinkle a little
spice in the mix, and the real a$$holes always flare up.

It may have been an attempt at wry humor. Hard to say.
I think he was just kidding around and we didn't get it.
