I am interested in hearing directly from anyone who owns AND has used both a Fuji S2 Pro AND an Image Tank of recent vintage together.

Please respond to @ [email protected]
If you don't have that combination, please don't send questions or opinions.
I'm not interested in hearing about other products such as those by Minds@work.
Thanks.

I have a reason for wanting the responses to be direct and not public at this time.

And my interest (for this inquiry) only involve the S2 and the Image Tank.
Not the S2 and other things like Raw files.
Thanks

So what exactly is it you want tested?

I can tell you with ALL certainty that it works fine... If there is something specific you want tried... Drop a line here...

I tried to make it clear that at this time I don't want to have a public dialog about this. (for precisely the reason of the two public responses I've gotten here)

If that's not acceptable then I'm sorry. At some point you may find out why I'm asking. What about this don't you comprehend?

Hey Mike...

Seems kinda ironic.. Asking for help in a public forum (Phil might argue this), but not wanting to have a public dialog.

Anyways... Me gots a fairly new IT, and S2... Drop me an email and let me know what you want done...

I'm guessing that since the S2 has a firewire connection ...

What I don't comprehend is your attitude. You are seeking info and you'd be lucky to get it in any form people wish to dispense it in. That's usually how things work in life.

Because I asked for emails, and didn't want to start a Q&A taking up forum space.

Appearantly that is not possible.

Let's just drop the subject. And any effort I made to provide information based on a survey will go unknown.

Well shoot. I don't want to drop it. I want to know if I can use the Firewire connection on the S2 to connect to the Image Tank or similar Firewire hard drive.

Well?

You can't connect camera to Image Tank - with any camera or any connection. Image Tank accepts the cards (Compact Flash or Smart Media - or attachment for Memory Stick, Secure Digital...).

I highly doubt you could do direct connections through firewire between the S2 and the ImageTank. However, you could always get a laptop to do the same.

That's what I'm planning to do if I decide on getting the S2. I'll connect it up to the Fujitsu Lifebook P series which I'm currently saving $$ for. It'll make a great in the field studio setup and I could burn the photos on CD right there to give to clients.

Sorry Mike for ruining your thread. Boy is this off-topic.

Firewire Hard-drive + external power source + Hyperutility Software + OS to run it all = A pretty sweet mobile storage solution.

Cheers

Mike, come on back. Everyone has a bad hair day once in
awhile. Look, I caught this guy running over a cattle guard.

I was away yesterday and just had a chance to review messages on DP Review. The original post regarding the S1 and Image Tank has become (as I expected) so cluttered with divergent B.S. that it's useless.

Research terminated.
Thanks

Guess everyone is sick of this thread, but i was more interested in what the hell an Image Tank is anyway.

I looked at several reviews across the net and all seemed favorable, not that this is the best or worst of the media banks. But is one of the more reasonably priced and flexible setups (if you install your own H.D.'s).

I ordered mine from AU w/o the H.D. for $137.00 usd, then got a 4.8 gig IBM TravelStar 2.5" drive for $52.00 usd. Now I know 4.8 gig doesn't sound like much (20 gig drives were $110.00) but that 4+ dumps for a 1gig microdrive. And even if the 4.8 gig drive were full, it would still take a long time to t'fer over to a computer via the USB 1.1 bus
