T2i or 50D?

I way pass on the 28-135.. I hear bad things about it also. I hear the 18-135mm is not so bad and B&H offers it as a kit sometimes.

As far as primes, a person may get a lot of primes to equal to the focal range of a zoom. I say if you want to focus on primes, I suggest a cheap middle like the 50mm 1.8 and focus on the extremes like 24mm - 35mm on the wide end and 85mm - 100mm on the telephoto and make up the middle ground of the two lenses by walking. You can get the more expensive 50mm 1.4 if you so feel it will be the lens you use most.. but if down the line you buy a telephoto prime and a wide angle prime, you will find that middle grown so close to your wide and your telephoto that something wont get used as much. Try to avoid having a future lens sit on your shelf... or at least not a pricey lens sitting on the shelf. :)

As far as macro, I have the 100mm macro non IS and it is a great lens but once again, make sure you are into macro or that this will be your telephoto prime because once again, you do not want a lens on the shelf if you will not use it. I have dedicated macro days just to keep this lens active. Macro was something for me to experiment with. I do enjoy it but do not shoot it as much as I would like.
Yes sir ordering a 50D. I'm getting ready to order it today or tommorow. I will be just getting the body. The kit comes with a 28-135 and if I'm not mistaken it is not a very good lens. I thought I will start off with a 50mm 1.4 or possibly a 60mm Macro . Probably will be better starting off with the 50mm. I want to buy good lenses but I want to use primes as much as possible. Maybe a 10-22 later on and also a 100 mm Macro or 135 Macro. Any thoughts? Am I wrong about the 28-135? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am in the same boat but I had the Canon 7D and found it OK nothing that made me feel it was worth $ 1800 in todays economy. I have had Canon 50 D in the past. Right now I am too debating between T2i and 50D. T2i has better IQ than 50D but I happen to have 4 550A batteries for it but if I choose to go T2i route I will need to buy and mantain yet another set of batteries. Presently using Canon 20D and it has been working flawless for the past 5to 6 years.

The 28 to 135 lens from Canon is a hidden L lens. Do not under estimate it. I have been using mine for over 13 years and make 18 X 24 regularly and 20 X 30 from time to time. This lens is a $ 550 lens but today you can buy it as kit for $ 200, dont waste your time thinking, go for it. I have shot weddings with it for years and its good.

If it was not good why would canon still offer it with 7D, because its able to give excellent results with good resolution for this 18 MP new camera.
