Mounting & removing lenses

Is it necessary to set focus mode to "M" when removing & mounting lenses?
AF coupling retracts in "Manual" focusing mode.

As soon as you hit the lens remove button you can remove the lens, that's what it is there for. Any coupling will be retracted once you hit that button.

I usually turn my camera off for a few seconds to discharge any static on the sensor that may attract dust but I've never had any problems changing lenses with the camera on (and it has to be on when you want to use a blower on the sensor).
