Would not have impacted my choice much at all ... given its 33mm characteristics and 50mm FOV. I wonder if any choice of initial APS-C 'lensor' would have had much impact on sales volume .... given the wide range of interests posted here over past few months. I believe 28mm would have been a bit more popular, but would also have hammered GRD III sales. Ricoh clearly has a long term strategy for GXR and broad market focus encompassing commercial applications.
All said, I have lost my initially high level of Ricoh interest except for perhaps adding GRD III to existing GX200 (which has been fine value for money). No criticism of Ricoh whatsoever. They just chose a path with GXR which may take much time to mature to fit my need set. OTH, all other new offerings seem equally deficient in one way or another.
Not being a professional, my foundation is dslr with new, quality lenses as needs arise, and small niche cams (like Sigma DP and Ricoh) to cover very specific requirements. Trying to keep an open mind re. m4/3 see where it leads. Being distant from large city resources, I depend on the many capable user/posters here to help me understand major shortcomings with the torrent of new solutions available.
When you, and others with similar skepticism, endorse one of the new concepts with enthusiasm, I can move forward with confidence. I find this a quite beneficial.
