Funny photo :)

Is the sculpture gray? If so, use the Levels tool and place the Gray Eye Dropper on one of the sculpture's face. You'll probably get a better white balance on this shot.

It is gray, however, the sun was low on the horizon and there was that yellowish/golden cast on the sculpture/snow that added some warmth to the overall scenery. This is what I wanted to also capture, this is what my eyes actually saw.

It is the sun reflected on the snow that gave it that yellowish cast. I did not want to fix it since this is what I saw. Thanks

The white balance seems off, but I guess you already explained that. Did you consider cropping it closer? Cute shot and very appropriate for the coming "holiday". :)

I've been on Dpreview since June 2006. Unfortunately, some posting history has been lost along the way...

I really like that shot. The white balance has a sepia tone for an old style look. The cropping is perfect IMO, there's just enough background to give it a sense of place.

First off, thank you all for the kind comments.

Regarding the white balance, I intentionally wanted it to be like this to reflect the warmth I felt at the time I took the shot, the sun was low and there was a hint of yellowish in the air and on the snow itself, there are also a lot of trees around that reflected the sun with a cast to the reflection. I just wanted to capture the atmosphere and convey the message.

If this was editorial, product photography or formal wedding, then I would agree that the white balance should be spot on.

When I first started working on this image, the white balance was dead on, but the image was also "dead", did not convey any emotions or feelings.

I also wanted to show the vast amount of snow to reflect how deep the couple were buried in snow, any closer crop will take away from the depth, I did experiment with the crop, but it was flat!

Happy Valentine's day.

Thank you you Gale for understanding what I wanted to accomplish.

The red rose idea is terrific. If someone today, or before the snow melts, gives me a red rose, I would run to the backyard to implant it and shoot away :)

Thank you so much. We got a lot of snow, like 2 feet in few hours but the drift doubled the amount of snow in some areas.
