Twelve Ways to Process a Pentax RAW file in Lightroom

  1. 4 does it for me. I enjoy the wider dynamic range of colors that I perceive in this rendition. The eyes seem the most persuasive in this version and the colors, themselves, are most pleasing and true. thanks for the comparisons.

As a bonus, if you'd like to vote for which one is your favorite, I plan on making the settings of the most popular one into a preset for free download from my website. And if you hate them all, that's okay too. :)
Hi Keitha,
You asked for it so here it goes !
N°1 is my colored (or vivid-colored) fav ! Why ? er... the nearly-mono-colored versions overall better suit me because I found them, say, more appropriate along with a nearly-B&W skin and this one offered in addition a good match between the paintings and eyes' color.
N°5 Extra bonus ! : definitely the one I like the less, far too much saturated to my liking but eh, couldn't have liked everything, right ?!
N°7 is the one a like most even if I was close to choosing #1. I already explained better liking the "nearly-mono-colored" versions and this Light-ice-blue version just goes so well with the B&W. Version #1 gave more punch and #7 maybe a bit more mystery... I chose to favor mystery :)

It's always nice to watch at what you manage to sort out of Lightroom. Thanks for sharing.

I especially had a nice time here trying to guess what was the actual color of the paintings and have been changing my mind each and everytime from pic #1 to #4...

I haven't checked what was the liking of the other members and count on you to do the math and keep inform us !

Thanks to everyone who voted and commented - I assure you that all were useful :)

#7 won handily, so as promised, I have put up the preset for download on my blog. You can get it here (it's called "Face Paint Silvers"): http://www.ascenicworld.com/2008/12/02/lightroom-presets-for-download/

I also did a little tutorial where I broke down all the settings and hopefully showed how each one is used to arrive at the finished outcome. If you're interested in that sort of thing, you can see it here: http://www.ascenicworld.com/2010/02/02/the-making-of-face-paint-with-silvers/

Once again, thanks for playing!

Hi Kietha. I love the shot and the processing. Once again I instantly see these arranged in a 3X4 rows grid al a Warhol style. The processing all has a great look and its hard to pick a favourite. Thanks for the preset's as well as it is helpful to work in a subtractive way from a starting point. There is no question that all Aperture users are hoping for Presets in the 3.0 version.
Thanks again
Roger
