If I may ask, what is it about those particular images that draws you to them?

Awesome digree of grays in those images!

What kind of software do you use for processing? I've got Lightroom for my D200 but find midtones and shadows lack a lot of vivacity.

Neat job!

Funny, because I was thinking that the grays are lacking and there is too much contrast in all images.

The pic of the smiling woman is good (too much contrast, though), but the rest are lacking in composition IMHO.

1 is fine if that's your thing.

2,3 don't have enough DOF ... the subject isn't interesting enough to just leave one slice of it in focus.
4. camera shake and or motion blur .. bad.
5. That's cool.

Nice shots, and nice conversion B & W

Actually, LightRoom is exactly what I use. The only downshot is that all of my post processing is done on an aging ToughBook and the screen does not give the same kind of fidelity as a desktop with a well-calibrated monitor. Many of these photos are simply "eyeballed."

What would you change in the composition of those images?
