I bought the Canon Rebel XSi camera kit a few months ago. I love my camera and I want to expand my photography horizons a little. What lens should I look to buy that will help provide good quality landscape and wildlife photo's?

I think you should try the 50mm. It might not be perfect for landscapes or wildlife however, but you can make it work if you frame the image properly.

It kind of depends on what type of photos you like. Do you like ultra wide angle (10-22), regular (35mm, 50mm) or zoomed in (300mm)?

we'd need to know your budget and current lens to give any suggestions.

landscape and wildlife in general require two very different lenses. Landscape is typically done around the 15-40mm range and wildlife requires at least 100mm. So it would depend on your preference. If you're just starting out, then landscape would probably be easier to get good shots, and less frustrating, so you would want something wide.

If you want the sharpest image, then in general a prime lens would be better and would also teach you more about framing the shot.

The 17-55 for landscape/ portraits, 70-300 IS best value for long range....

You would probably need two lenses for landscape and wildlife. For landscape, you need a wide to short tele, and for wildlife a long telephoto.

For those on a budget, a 19-35mm Tokina wide angle zoom would be good for landscapes. For wildlife on a budget, the 70-300mm Sigma APO macro.

Look for the EF-S 55-250 IS. It is a good lens, not to huge, not to expensive, the IS is useful, you have a decent range, the AF is ok. It is not the lens they use at National Geographic, but for beginners and amateurs this might be all they ever need.
