lens for Nikon F801s (8008)

Dear all,

I own a Nikon F801s (8008), which is a traditional analogical, which has a lens E 50mm 1:1.8 .

I would like to buy new lenses for my camera, but given the fact that it is very old, I do not know which one would be compatible for it..

From what I would like to do with it, a 70-300mm will probably will serve me fine...
Could you please give me a tip?

Anything that is not DX or AF-S (no AF on F801s)... AI, AI-S, AF, AF-D shall be OK.

Great camera. I don't think you will get VR lenses to work with it though. Anything from AIS to D is fine, as was said - I've used them without problems. It's great with manual focus lenses.

While I was searching around for lenses, I found these ones:

SIGMA 70-300mm f/4-5,6 AF DG MACRO per Nikon 115 euros
SIGMA 70-300mm f/4-5,6 APO DG MACRO per Nikon 158 euros
Nikon 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 G-AF
NIKON AF-S DX 55-200mm f/4-5,6G ED
NIKON AF-S VR DX 55-200mm f/4,0-5,6 ED IF

Do you think it is ok?

Does sb use before Sigma lenses? Should I choose Nikkon or Sigma? If somebody has experience with the above ones, please share some infos with me...

These two are not OK for your F801s: they are AF-S (no auto-focus on F801s) and DX (APS-C size: smaller image circle than the one of your 24x36mm F801s).

• NIKON AF-S DX 55-200mm f/4-5,6G ED
• NIKON AF-S VR DX 55-200mm f/4,0-5,6 ED IF

Others are OK. Not too sure I would advise them though. I'd rather check for a used copy of the non-G version of the Nikon 70-300. Otherwise yes, the Sigma are fair entry-level lenses but quite fragile from what I heard.
