How to change the default Save As file format in PS?

I created an action in PS 7, which does some resizing, and creating a color frame. After I played the action with the picture, if I go to FILE -- SAVE AS or SAVE, the default file format is PSD or PDD.

The original file is JPEG. And I want it to be saved as JPEG too.

When I click on the JPEG from the dropdown menu, it says:

"File must be saved as a copy with this selection." with a yellow triangle shape warning sign, and that sign also shows on the LAYERS in SAVE section where it has "As a Copy, Alpha Channels, Layers, Annotations, Spot Colors". It looks like there is something that force it to save as PSD or PDD.

What can I do to let it save into JPEG automatically if I use AUTOMATE -- BATCH process with this action??

Thank you so much for your guidance!

You are right! I used Layers to create nice colored frame that I saw from the web. I found that I can force it to save it as JPEG without notice any difference. However, my problem is that then I will not be able to use the BATCH process and get JPEG automatically.

Is there a way to solve this problem?
Sean Sounds likt your action has created layers. Add Flatten image
in your action before you do the save as.

Layered files can not be saved as a Jpeg .
