grx???got it in my pocket!

Furthermore - getting a GXR with 50mm will need super-sized pockets.
have you held one in your hands, Tom? do you know that for sure?

or are you just trying to "balance" everything out...

i had no problem putting the ricoh with the 50 mm (that is in my opinion the most interesting lensor, rightnow) in my old barbour-jacket.

only problem is the viewinder. but that is the same with my grx100. i broke that finder a couple of weeks ago, while trying to pull it out of my jacket.

from my memory i would say, the new ricoh is a little bigger than canon g11, but fits much better im my hand - even with 50 mm.

my balanced view is: camera is great, if ricoh really has the economic power to relase more lensors (wideangle aps / 40 mm fulformat is what i like) - than, they created a new classic. if not, it is just a great but expensive camera...like the upcoming leica x1.

btw: gxr/grx/xgrn IQ is very good. i cannot imagine, leica x1 will be not as good. should not be that difficult.

hi prognatous,

yes the 50 mm does extend, when focused to the minimum distance. around 3,4 cm (the troll had do find a ruler)

i do not get a correct exposure when the 50mm module was switched to 1/3200.
exposure was right at 1/1600...

let the zoom in the office, will check tomorrow

that troll-thing is a little annoying . gives me a not so good feeling about my decision to register.

Agfa, thanks for your impressions. It's bad to be branded a troll if you are a legitimate poster. I'm interested in the camera, but it will need to have more high quality lens modules to make me want to buy one.

yes. i guess that will buy the key-point for many users.

in the photographic world you will find people doing great images with a lot of equipment. and there are those with just one rolleiflex, or one leica or even one diana.

after years of running around with a bag full of nikon stuff, i am very happy going out with just one mamiya m6 (with one lens), ore one holga, or one nikon d300 with a 60 mm macro.

no wonder i am happy with one gxr with the 50 mm. less is more!!

but that is expensive of coure. the concept can only survive with more lesnors.

.... that GXR and either Module will comfortable slide in and out of most popular photog's vests? That may not be acceptable to street shooters, but would work (not pull pants down) for many other 'walk-about' users including hikers. This could be a decent solution even with hydration backpacks. Maybe VF won't work well, but that seems another issue. ... Thom H recently noted no issue with EP1 in vest pocket hiking in my geography all day. GXR must easily fall in that size and weight range.

Yes, less is more, and more is less -- that's why we buy those suppenzooms, sorry superzooms, so that we have to carry only one lens... It takes a lot more discipline to do with one lens. I once learned that when I dropped my 28-200 zoom on vacation and had to use only a 50mm lens for a while (luckily we had taken it with us...).

I understand that you feel embarrassed by being called a troll. The forum is a bit nervous these days (I started a thread on that issue a couple of days ago, and it was commented "twitter twitter tweed tweed"... -- not very polite).
Best regards, Gerd

hmmmmmmmm, tick, tick, tick, tick.....so I wait...I have no issue, although I would prefer using a belt, I have no issue using a strap or a messenger bag with camera in the supplied case for the module I will be using....tick, tick, tick...

This will make Harold very happy

tick, tick, tick...

I am first, I repeat, first on the popflash list of tryouts, just hope if I love it (tick, tick, tick) they will have one in stock for me (tick, tick, tick).

Welcome to the forum!
thanks!!

I have a few questions that maybe you could answer:
1. Does the A12 extend when focused to the minimum distance?

-araound 3.4 cm

2. Is it possible to use the flash when the A12 is set to to its maximum shutter speeds (1/3200)? Do you get correct exposure?
  • not with 1/3200 but with 1/1600
3. If you set f/5.6 and zoom the S10, does the aperture stay at f/5.6, or does it "fluctuate" above and below?
  • will check later
Thanks,
Prog.

I gladly do!
Best regards, Gerd

hello

I found it amusing that someone who has the handname of Pangloss would actually criticize someone else handle as suspicious !!!
Only a French could do that

also I know how the French mentality works but I think there is something that you should learn; It is called the benefit of the doubt !

especially if you are going to use a reference to one of the great thinkers who made a point to fight ostracism and narrow-mindedness
:((
Harold
...
if i will have new impressions, i will let you know.
Don't bother, you have just made it to my ignore list.

It's a bit disappointing that the A12 isn't an internal focusing lens, but at least it has other redeeming qualities. It would be interesting to see a DPR test of this lens. It would probably give the Oly 50/2.0 macro a run for its money.
2. Is it possible to use the flash when the A12 is set to to its maximum shutter speeds (1/3200)? Do you get correct exposure?

Still decent. Far higher than any focal-plane shutter.

Thanks! I appreciate it :-)

What is not amusing, and is clearly not acceptable, is for you to parade your prejudices about a nationality. But then, luckily, it reveals more about you and your mentality than about the person you are attacking. And what you've certainly shown is that your mentality is the opposite of that of Voltaire, since you're the one trying to exhibiting prejudice and narrow-minded in trying to ostracize Pangloss.

Don't worry too much Harold. Everyone except Mitch knows you are French ;) Even Pangloss is French, I think.
