optical viewfinder out of focus at full telephoto -- anyone else?

When I zoom the camera into full telephoto, the optical viewfinder seems to "shift" itself out of focus. One zoom step back, and things are in focus again.

Of course this is just in the viewfinder and not in the LCD viewfinder nor in the actual recorded image.

Does anyone else see this behaviour in their P6000?

Can you "refocus" it so it's in focus in the optical viewfinder, but then obviously out of focus on the LCD.

Not familiar with the P6000, are you sure it's an optical rather than electronic view finder?

A bit of a coincidence, a post in another thread I was reading pointed me straight to a review (Link: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1007&message=33625007 ).

Yeah, the P6000 is a rangefinder of sorts, it sounds like there's something wrong with it, unless it's a known mechanical bug in the P6000. Take it back if it's under warranty...

Yeah, sorry, I should have mentioned that I'm asking about a P6000 off the bat. It's a compact digicam with a tunnel-style optical viewfinder. This viewfinder is sorely insufficient to begin with ("better than nothing at all" is probably the best way to describe it), but I just wanted to see if other P6000 owners have noticed the same thing before I send it off for warranty work and lose it for a few weeks.

Anyone else?

To say the optical viewfinder is "better than nothing at all" is fairly accurate (even "adequate" would be an exaggeration ;-)), but mine is in focus through the full zoom range.

Just tried it on mine, and the focus is fine throughout the entire range. Sorry about yours. Maybe the P7000 will have a diopter adjustment!

Maybe there actually will be a P7000?

Seriously, if they just tweak the P6000 a bit (faster lens, better ISO, ditch the ethernet port, etc.), they'd have the Ultimate Compact.

In any case, I've sent my P6000 in for warranty service. They said it's a pretty easy fix, and it should be back to me in 2-3 weeks. Fingers crossed.

Back to using my trusty CP4500!
