I was out hiking the other day and went to take a picture and My D40 would not work. Upon closer looking I saw that I was getting a SDHC card error saying it was bad. I tried the card in a another camera, still no good. Plugged it into my USB reader and it would not read. I tried cleaning it, warming it, everything...nothing worked. I went on-line and ordered an upgrade replacement, and while I was at it I also ordered me a D90!!! Both should be here this week.
While reading Ken Rockwell's site I saw that he recommends to re format your media card every time you go to use it. I decided to take my bad card out of the trash and I plugged it back into my USB reader. I went into My Computer and tried to open up the card, but no go. So I had my computer re format this disk for me and it now works
Thank you Ken for giving me the idea. Now I will have two working 8GB cards.
