I am greatly disappointed with most of the contributions to this DPR challenge. It is surprising to me to see how little is understood by the participating photographers of what is genuinely sexy. I dare say, few pictures in this challenge would arouse the interest of 14 year old boys, much less adults who still have an appreciation for sexy women. Am I just being a grump? Or are there others who agree with me.

Note: I'm not trying to be mean. Sometimes I just feel like calling them as I see them.)

After seeing those submissions, I'd venture to say that, in general, I agree with you. There are some hideous shots there and few nice ones too. More bad than good, which is disappointing.

SOME BAD:

The bad winner is....

I think she is really mad at this snap shooter for using ISO 12800 on a p&s and then cropping it in as far as humanly possible. She does not look happy at all!

SOME GOOD:
Well, I got tired of looking for them - wading through all the crap.

Yeah, I know. I felt obligated to go through the entire lot because I submitted, but if I had it to do over again, I would not have submitted. Thanks for responding.

By using the word, "arouse", are you confusing sexy with risque?

Perhaps you should submit some images of your own to show us all what is really sexy.

No. I was trying be clever, but I understand the difference.

Some seem to confuse Sexy with slutty, skanky etc. Taste does have something to do with it.

And some can't tell what is voyeuristic and what is not.

For example, igb thinks a photo of someone peeing is not:

He also considers a shot up a woman's skirt with her legs spread is not voyeristic:

http://webs.ono.com/igonzalezbordes/IMG6011.htm

Yet images of women on public streets that show the women exactly as they chose to present themselves is voyeuristic. Hmm-m.

-with my apologies if that's asking impossibles-

You might have a point if those images were meant to convey any sexual connotation (yes, like posting them in a "she's so sexy!" challenge). The naked (hope you don't get overexcited) is that their intent is to document -more or less sucessfully- aspects of street life.

Again I apologize for pointing such an obvious (except for fktards, that is) thing.

I'm sure that all clients and contributors to street voyeur sites would agree with you. But you know that huh?

Beautiful, let alone sexy, are extremely personal feelings. If you think your wife is sexy, how would you feel if someone saw her photo and called her a "dog"? I think your opinion of what is sexy is fine, but it's your and only your opinion which probably was best left to yourself rather than insulting the Challenge's photographers and subjects by starting a forum thread.

Being objectively subjective, I don't find the images you entered at all sexy. See?

Just which ones did he enter?

Actually someone who is sexy is hard to tell by looking at an image. Many women who I have taken a portrait of are extremely beautiful. But I wanted nothing to do with them when the shoot was over. They were horrible people and were difficult to be around.

To me, sexy has much to do with her personality. A great photo can show this. Beauty is truly skin deep. And ugly is to the bone.

...and has to do with capturing an attitude which for me means that the eyes need to be a central element of the image.

While I agree with the OP's post about this challenge, the two images that he entered were (for me) examples of what is not sexy.

For me, the following entries are sexy:

Subjective is fine. But I agree with a couple of posters that taste is essential. (What is good taste? I’m not going there with this, other than to say I know it when I see it.) Both examples you provided are sexy and in good taste. But I find your definition of what creates attitude to be too restrictive. There are too many beautiful aspects to the human body, and too many ways to reflect attitude, to say only the eyes have it.

I’m not trying to convince anyone that my photos are sexy, but to me they both show plenty of attitude, which is why I find them sexy. The young woman is striding breezily down the street because she knows she looks good. Her milky white legs (which show better in RGB mode) are beautifully accented by the primary colors of her red heels and short, blue skirt. Her hair is tied back simply with a coordinating red ribbon. In juxtaposition are her simple, worn tee shirt and her unfashionable knapsack. It takes confidence to combine those clothing elements, and her confidence, and her love of life are very evident. That is what makes her sexy to me.

The second woman is also sexy to me. She is dressed in dowdy clothing to ride her bicycle, yet is completely comfortable showing her generous cleavage. These two elements of her appearance create another juxtaposition that reveal an attitude of complete confidence and comfortableness with herself. She knows she is sexy, and she doesn’t have to spend a lot of time, energy, or money to prove it.

But this is just one man’s opinion.

Regards,
Michael

and you'll see their images that have been posted in Challenges. I agree that someone's personality can make her sexy.
