Thought it would be good to start a thread discussing hints and tips on getting the best out of the d300s video mode. So please... no discussions about the benefit or not of having DSLR video!
I've only had the camera a few days and am beginning to understand more about the quirks of shooting video.
1. No manual control of shutter speed, but if you adjust the AE compensation it appears to change shutter speed. It would be nice to know if there's a method for choosing a specific shutter speed using this technique... I've definately found shooting at night under flourescents troublesome... lots of strobe effects!
2. Manual control of aperture requires you to hit AF-ON on something bright to fully close the aperture.... you can then switch to manual aperture and rotate the aperture ring to pick the required f-stop.
3. I would like to hear some thoughts on how to reduce the dreaded jpg artifacting! Taking a shot into after effects, converting to B+W and then applying an increase contrast curves effect really shows how bad the compression is!
