and even better is the three finger back and forward navigation.. One wonders why APPLE doesnt make a track pad similar to the old keypad addons for the mac pro and other desk tops..

Actually it drives me nuts. Always inadvertently zooming. On the other hand I didn't know about the three finger navigation until you mentioned it. Thanks.

I guess I should read up on the track pad.

GREAT. Unlike the mouse when you get used to it, you can gently use either hand and on the MBP with the high def screen, it is great to just zoom in the page for the print with a slight touch of the thumb and finger... Love the way you can sweep a page or just drop the other finger on and scroll.. I think it is one of the best things to come out of Apple in a long time as an accessory.
After using it, the mouse is a PAIN for forums and surfing.

are three finger left/ right short movements and are enabled in the mouse pad panel with a check mark. They work in ALL apps AFAIK

Yes, I very much like the new pad on my MBP, I would like to have one on my iMac, but on Friday, I had my MBP in a clean room (I work with MEMS) and the track pad did not work very well with the latex gloves (required in a clean room) it was a pain. But the MBP is still well worth it.

If you have low standards, you can take a look:

The movement is 3-fingers swiped left and right to go forwards or backwards a page in your web browser and yes, it does work in Safari. According to the Trackpad control panel, there is nothing setup for 3 fingers swiping up and down. What happens in FireFox when you swipe three fingers up and down?
The three-finger up or down works in Firefox but not in Safari, at least on my computer.

Sorry, I think I was not clear. I mean three fingers up or down swipe in FF makes the page jump to the top or bottom, two fingers is regular up or down scrolling as in Safari.
That's weird. In Safari, all it takes is two fingers to accomplish the very same thing including scrolling left and right as well (actually 360 degree scrolling).
In Firefox three fingers up or down scrolls to the top or bottom of the page.

I wonder how well the new WACOM pen and touch tablet work on the Mac.

If it came with the new Adeobe Photoshop Elements 8 instead of 6, its a no brainer to buy and try.

It supports multi touch:

" With Bamboo, Wacom introduces nine key gestures:

Navigate
Click
Double Click
Right Click
Forward & Back
Scroll
Select & Drag
Rotate
Zoom"
