Does DeltaInternational sell Canon Lenses with USA Warranty?

John

Delta is grey.

buy it USA from canoga for $1089 (call and get an even better price, ask for Greg) and then get a $100 mail in rebate from canon.

That would be 989 or better for a US lens

ROFL...you guys crack me up. I guess I am the "de facto" representative from Delta on this forum. LOL. Anyway, I got my 16-35 2.8L, 28-70 2.8L, 24mm 1.4L, 70-200 2.8IS L, 100-400L and 1.4xII and 2.0xII teleconverters, 2 550EX flashes and ST-E2 and 1D, ALL from Delta GREY MARKET. They ALL had a 5 year MACK warranty card at no extra charge included with the Canon International Warranty card with them. Canon U.S.A. IS servicing ALL grey products... (1D, D60, D30, ALL EF lenses) under warranty at NO charge for the ONE YEAR Period. If you can save money it makes NO sense to buy USA version unless there is a rebate that would yield you a savings beyond the Grey price. AFAIAC Delta get's ALL of my business I can possibly throw their way. Their service is simply as good as it get's.

I am sure i will get one for 950 (if not cheaper) with the rebate and it is a US lens.

Grey is ok as long as the price reflects it. Same price or just $20 lower doesnt do it.

The savings could be substantial. I got my 70-200L F2.8 IS from Delta for $1640. B&H gets $1849 for grey plus $50 for the 3 yr. warranty that Delta gives away free. That's a $259 savings.

first of all B&H is not nessecarily the best place to buy if you want to save money. For example the B&H grey price is the same as the listed price on canoga for a US version. Call them and you get another discount. Have a hard time comparing the 70-200 2.8 L IS as it is not even available on Delta but the non IS compares $1115 grey from Delta vs $1189 us from canoga minus $50 canon rebate is 1139 and you can get some more off by calling them so again not worth buying grey and Delta's shipping is generally a few dollars over others too.

Second i was comparing the lens the original poster queried about not all lenses available on the market today. And for the 28-70L you can buy it US cheaper than grey right now.

As for the 3 year Mack warranty you may as well throw the paperwork away. But before you do that read the part that says that they can instead of repairing your lens refund you the money for the warranty.

As for grey i am not too crazy about buying grey just as i am not too crazy about buying sigma products even though they have some decent lenses also. I rather pay a few dollars more and know i will not have problems later. Now if the savings is substantial that may be a different story but very often if you look good enough it is not.

Why do places like Canoga insist on routinely give lower prices to those who call and ask?

I can understand if you're placing a large order, or have ordered lots of things there before.

But why should somebody get a discount simply because they call in and ask for one?

Do they not WANT people to use their web-based ordering system?

If you can read it even says so on the web site at pretty much any item.

Guess it has to do with the fact that there is some room in pricing but posting it on the web would make it official and would not allow for changes in pricing.

I have had great response ordering from Delta. My 1D had problems out of the box. A replacement was on the way the next day. Shipping covered both ways. Also got 70-200 2.8L IS. Mack warranty. etc.

So what happens if, as has been experienced here by some D60/28-70 owners, you need Canon to evaluate your D60 and lens together and adjust it for front or rear focusing, etc?

Lee,
Do you ever ROLFUIHSBYCSI? (until you hurt so bad you can't stand it?)

Are you serious about Canon USA's policy? The one thing holding me back from Grey is the case where I might need to have Canon evaluate my D60 and a lens or two to adjust focusing, etc. as reported here.

Anyone notice the new addition to Delta's web page. For a change, they're actually a little higher than the "current" price. Big difference being when I order mine (5/25) the actually had it "currently" in stock. Got mine last week. Sorry, no dogs or kids so no "I got my camera first pics...."
Cost worked out to be about the same as buying retail in New Orleans.

Bought from them before, and I will buy from them again. These are honest people, trying to please their customers. (Just don't forget to buy an adapter for the plug before the camera comes in. Had to run to RadioShack before I could play).

David,

I think it has something to do with agreement they have with maufacturers not to advertise below a certain price.
You've probably noticed the "Call for Price" in many ads in the magazines.
Maybe someone else can explain it better.

As for dealing with Canoga I picked up a 70-200 IS from them in early May in person and got a fantastic price. Of course I had to pay Calif state sales tax which sucked.

Frank,

Yes it is true. Canon will honor the warranty if you have a receipt on grey items. (Lee's not pulling your leg) :-)
