Approximately two weeks ago I posted some pictures I took of Pittsburgh with my D90 set to the Vivid Color picture control mode. My wife also has a D90 with the Nikkor 16-85 VR, and she was taking pictures during that same excursion. Here are some of hers. As far as I know, she used MM and the Standard picture control mode with Sharpening at 5, Saturation at +1 and Brightness at -1. I don't know if she used her CP for all of these, but by and large she did better than I did!

One of the most sacred sites in Pittsburgh. . .

This is one of Pittsburgh's newest monuments. It is a bronze sculpture of George Washington conversing with an Indian Chief, supposedly an event that might have happened at this very site during George Washington's service during the French and Indian Wars.

This shot of downtown Pittsburgh shows the wide zoom capabilities of the 16-85 VR.

The classic postcard view from the terrace of the Duqesne Incline Station on Mt. Washington.

Finally, here are two shots she took on a trip to Fallingwater, the famous Frank Lloyd Wright house in the Laurel Highlands east of Piitsburgh. The scenes here can be exposure hell, but no MM problems here!

Remember these shots are by MinoltaMan's wife! Enjoy!

Being at college but from Pittsburgh, these sure make me homesick! Nice job on the pictures to your wife!

Mrs. MinoltaMan is very good with a camera.
She should sign up and give us lessons. :-)
Steve,

My wife does artistic painting. For this reason she tends to have a better eye for composition than I posses. I am better with the technical aspects of operating a modern camera. My wife gets more keepers with the D90 than she did using a point-and-shoot.

I showed my wife your reply and she was most appreciative of your kind comments!

Best wishes,

Fred

I certainly intend to keep her. She also has a good eye for tastefully modern, cost effective interior decorating! She blesses me in more ways you can imagine!

Thanks for your kind sentiments!

Hi Fred,

I'm a nuts and bolts guy like you. I could buy a $5000 camera and your
wife could out-shoot me with a Brownie! She is proof that there is a lot
of art in photography. I've got some musical talent but no visual.
Drawing a stick man is a challenge. Good pictures aren't much easier.

BTW, I visited Pittsburgh for a weekend awhile back. During the coal
days, Pittsburgh had a reputation for being a filthy dump with a layer
of soot covering everything. What a beautiful place it is now and what
a surprise to me!

Happy shooting, and a tip of the cap to Mrs. MM! :-)
