This is just to share some experience for anyone coming from a xxD series and thinking of "upgrading" to the 5D II

Yesterday I had the wedding of a friend & took my 5D II with me, it was my first spin for it in real low light without a flash (didn't took mine with me)

I can simply say that I am in awe ISO 6400 is really usable, maybe not for professionals I don't know but for me as souvenir shots I had to take in places barely lit.

H1 looks (to my eyes) what I used to get from my 40D at H

This is professional comparison just a feeling but even at H1 I had no banding in the blacks

I am really amazed.

can we see the whole photo?

Did you use a wide angle on this shot? The proportions look off to me.

Lovely bride, nice image.

did you use in camera noise reduction ?
Camera Noise Reduction is set to OFF (using custom functions) however in DPP the Noise Reduction tab is showing a Luminance NR and Chrominance NR of 3 each (out of 20)
any post processing ?
nothing just a straight raw conversion 100% crop

I have not had to use 6400 yet but 3200 is very good, in fact amazing

ISO 6400 er perfectly usable and looks great on print. I took some test shots in extremely low light with H1/2, but I will not use it again because I thought it made some banding and horrible color noise.

You'd be able to print that at say 8x12" and it would appear sharp and completely noise-less. bravo.

@ISO 25600
how are the results when light it bad, means a shot in night outside.

love to see something with that.

it seems the photos you posted there were already plenty of light available. you can produce good results if you over expose at higher isos.

problem only happens when there is no room for over exposure or even proper exposure.
