Does anyone routinely remove the battery door to attach the MBD-80 grip. I was wondering about the strength of the door, and as a result am reluctant to take the grip on and off too often.
Thanks,

I was an on-again off-again user of the grip on a D80 ...it does loosen up a little over time but was never bad enough to become a problem. Spare doors are possible too, very cheap as I recall from Nikon Parts but $$$ on ebay. If you can get a closer look at the hinge just the once, you will see the line of attack and how the hinge fits. Even if it loosens up a bit it will not come off when closed or fully open and the battery will not fall out 99% of the time.

Not sure if the D80 and D90 doors are interchangable as a spare part, must find out.

Spooky

I've just taken the MBD80 off last night and was wondering the same thing. However after getting used to the extra size of grip I doubt it will be coming off too much in the future - The D90 feels like a D40 after taking it off....!

Putting the battery door back on doesn't seem to require much force so I doubt it will loosen too much over time/repeated removals/replacements...

Thank you both, I appreciate your help. I really like the feel of the grip, but it really takes up a lot of room in my Domke F2, especially when I have an Arca plate attached.
