Mail man(?) stole my proof of purchase bar code

As above - I sent in my proof of purchase to Adorama - gave it to the mail man and a few weeks later the package comes back to me opened with the cardboard bar code missing. I did take a scan of the code - so is there anything I can do to still claim my rebate, or at least stop whoever stole it from claiming it?

Was it a Canon or Adorama rebate? I would start by calling Adorama. Sometimes with rebates they will accept a scan of the barcode and receipt. Maybe the customer service dept. can help, see if it has been cashed in and by whom.

It was an Adorama rebate so I've contacte their customer service. Would be interesting to see if it's been cashed in already.
