I have just seen that Ovation TV ( http://www.ovationtv.com/ ) for those of you who have it as a cable channel, is running "The Genius of Photography" series.

If you have Charter Cable, you should have it available

If you live in CT it is cable channel 175

Great Series -- enjoy!

$2,000,000+ for a print of Pond-Moonlight. It rare example of a early form of color photography is only reason for it going for that much...LOL

Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake: I don't think they wanted me to say anything. It was just their way of having a bit of fun, the swines. Strange thing is they make such bloody good cameras.

Plus it's an incredibly rare print.

Also, it's an excellent photograph.

Quote by Robert Roaldi: I often take pictures at less than optimum apertures and shutter speeds. At 1-to-1 on my monitor I can often see the blur that is the result of too low a shutter speed and too much coffee. But I can often fix those pictures by just reducing the magnification and printing them anyway and pretending that I never saw them at 100%. It seems to eliminate the problem.

I've watched four episodes so far and it is, quite frankly one of the most absorbing documentary series I've seen!
There is also a book of the series (by Gerry Badger).

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Genius-Photography-Gerry-Badger/dp/1844003639

(amazon link merely because that was the first that came up... google your own link...)

A book has the advantage that you can look at the photos and absorb the information at your own pace.

However, the presentation in the actual television series (editing, pace, the way connections are made and presented) is really top-notch and so that also has its own merits.

The series is also available on DVD. I bought mine in Australia at least 12 months ago now.

I just get a message that it's blocked by the BBC. Anyone know if this is still available?
