I had someone thow a snow ball at me when I had my D300 on me and it seams like the sutter on any lens I test is 2-3 delay. I wiped the out side off imditley and took the batter out when they tossed the snow ball at it. I reset all the functions in the D300 to defalt same thing slow shutter speed.

You mean there is a long delay when you press button before it starts autofocusing and shoots? If so, take lens off, and carefully clean the contacts on the lens and the camera. Deoxit, available from Radio Shack, is preferred, but people have reported using a piece of white paper successfully, and getting a bunch of black gunk off the terminals. If you get Deoxit, might as well clean the battery terminals while you are at it.

Yes after pressing the button to take an exposer it takes 2-3 secs to take a photo in any mode maual auto / ect...

Its like the shutter is acting very slow. I put it on any speed of shutter and it acts the same. Tested all the lens on my D700 and they work fine along with batters ect and some settings. It focases but then has a shooting delay for the sutter.....

Dang, you had batter in yours?!?

My guess it it's just a setting, as the D300 is relatively weather proof. Maybe you should try a reset with the green buttons (or whatever they are). I once fell into a funk for severl minutes because I had long delays until I found that somehow Slow Synch had been turned on in the flash options.

Good luck

Or maybe the shutter delay mode has got set? It may be worth the OP checking that out in the menu...

'Cheer up!' they said.
'It could be worse!' they said.
So I did.
And it was.
