new lens for DX: 10-24mm

For about a 50 percent higher price you get a Nikkor 14-24, all metal
pro build, constant 2.8 full frame lens with already legendary IQ.
That tells me that the 10-24 is overpriced.
What's the weight and size difference? That's the reason people often shoot with 35 and 50mm primes when their kit lens would probably do just as well for many of the shots - cause they are smaller and lighter.

If I'm reading the reviews correctly (and assuming they are correct) they're virtually the same size and weight (16 oz vs 17 for the 12-24 and 83x87 vs 81x89 for the 12-24 again)

I was responding to someone who was talking about the 14-24, and how one should just spend a little more and get that one. I believe that's a big lens, no?

Oh yeah, helps if I read more carefully. It is pretty hefty, 32 oz and 98x131, so the DX lenses are pretty similar but the FX one is way bigger. I was stuck in "DX only" thoughts.
