A fountain in the pond in a park, taken last week. As the sun was setting, the last rays shone only on the upper half of the water jet.

It might not be all that noticeable, but this is an IR image, rendered in duotone. As such, it was obviously PPed, but I preferred to avoid the high-contrast and excessive PPing usually associated with the genre.

DiMAGE 7, 64mm (35mm equivalent), 1/8 sec at f/3.5, ISO 100.

Hi Gideon,
I'm probably not the best for this one LOL.

I always find it hard to CC IR images as I have never seen the point in IR images other than in specialist applications. However, having said all that, this is a very nice shot indeed and I like the fact that it is mellow and not surreal as so many IR images tend to look!

Your conversion has created a very pleasing image and this is one of the best IR images I've seen to date.

I'm not terribly keen on the rather 'hot spots' in the cloud and atop of the fountain but I just love the heat 'halo' around the trees, particularly to the right of the image.

The crop is very pleasing too and the overall shot is very appealing and it is evident that you've taken great care to carefully compose the shot , even to a Neanderthal like me LOL. Mind you, it's such a pleasing setting, I think the image would look very good in regular monochrome or even colour!

So, even from an IR sceptic standpoint, you have produced a very good IR image - maybe you should post some more like this one and I might just be converted LOL.
Regards...
Tony

It appears as though you are getting some motion blur, are you using a tripod with the low speed shutter setting? Not excessive but slightly blurred.

No, regretfully no tripod was used. But frankly I don't see the motion blur (except in the water jet, of course).

Hello, Gideon!

Not bad, not bad at all! Although I would have liked more the traditional IR approach, but this is quite pleasing as it is.

Compositionally speaking, there' s a bit too much empty space in the foreground for my taste; luckily the texture of the water has some interest to capture the viewer's interest.
