Another DIY beauty dish... yes another one.

I always admire efforts like these ...especially when they are shared.

The proof is always in the results and from what I can see, they are pretty good.

The light is nice and soft and skintones look good and the catchlights are great.

To me ...and this may just be personal preference, the shots look a bit under exposed though ..eg. the white shirt is looking a bit too grey. If the exposure could be bumped just a tad, I think it would help those shots.

It looks like your daughters were pretty close to the seamless ...and shadows are showing behind them.

It would be nice to see how they would turn out with a somewhat more aggressive exposure and more seperation from the background, or perhaps the same seperation but with a reflector to reduce the shadow.

Thanks!

That is actually a wall, no seamless.

I agree that the exposure is off, but these were just quick tests. I am going to get the light off camera and on a tripod this weekend in front of the seamless and actually meter the shots to see what I get.

I'm another that appreciates enginuity when it comes to photo accesories. I'm wondering if there is a silver paint that would be specular enough to work even better than the white paint.

I have added a shot of the inside of the dome with the foil attached. I will add some more as I clean it up.

I am also considering trimming the interior of the GF dome to allow me to slide the flash a little farther into the bowl. I think that is why the light is losing so much power.
