It worked well until recently, when I tried to upload the film clip from camera (4GB card, fast), to the computer. The picasa opened itself upon switching power of the camera, recognised the camera, and the error message appeared and no option to Import file (film clips).

I did it by removing card and uploading with usb gizmo.

Later same thing happened. It sometimes works and sometimes does not. I suspected maybe aftermarket lithium battery has too low voltage after a year, but same thing happen with original battery.

Now it seems that if I upload a few photos, it is ok, larger number of photos it fail to load any, just shows the first photo on viewer but fail to import any, and gives error message without any description of the nature of error.

There is also something else, possibly related. From time to time, when turn on camera, the battery symbol appears on top L corner. It comes in red indicating empty but in a few seconds it indicates normal charge and does work. Perhaps there is some sort of problems with power management in the camera?

Have anybody had such problem or knows how to solve it? guarantee is one year only I think, so it is out. Unless seller gave another year. Have to check.

Thanks

Instead of uploading pics or movies from the camera to the computer by using the cam-to-PC USB connection, I always use a card reader. Once the card reader has been connected to the computer or the card inserted into it, It is just a copy and paste in the Windows Explorer, or Gnome Nautilus, or KDE Konquerer, or whatever.

So at least when transferring the data to your computer you do not need to drain the camera battery.

I use one original Fuji NP-140 and two HÄHNEL HL-F140. I have never encountered a problem with these so far.

I do use 3 batteries, one is original and two after market and cannot see much difference or did not paid much attention.

The advantage of importing direct from camera is that I do not have to unplug memory which potentially wear the contacts. But also plugging in to the small usb socket does wear it. Well, it is simple and convenient way, valid, was working but fails from time to time now. Sometimes when I visit friend want to updload to his computer and have no card reader. It should work.
Or perhaps Picasa plays up?

Thanks for sharing your opinions.
