Hi all

A continuation of the B&W theme in macro that garyking mentioned seems to be quite rare :)

I am quite enjoying the play of dark and light, and the lifting/highlighting of textures within the macro environment.

Black Rose:

White Velvet:

Spider in Bokeh:

Veins:

C&C is welcomed. Tips to improve this genre too please!

These are very nice Kev. I was about to reply that my faves were the 1st and last, then I looked again, liked the spider and the white...I'm pretty sure this means I like all four.

You still using the TC? And what lens?

Lovely,

Joe

I actually like veins the most...

Purely a hobby.

The rose shot is very interesting and is only marred by that leaf on the left. The spider image is cool, and the last shot is excellent.

Hi Keven, I like your exploration into the world of B+W. The reductionist approach, while not emotionally as stimulating (impactful) as some colored images, there is plenty here for me. Maybe I should just stop here, but I'll share a few observations, your images spark my imagination and typing warms my fingers . Warning you though, my bro and I, our conversations on dark/matter and energy, and a lack of sleep (self indulgence, no harm done) have put me into a spacey place:

Black rose: state of being and beginning. Flower floating in dark matter, overall low light implies early light/early life. Flower held in space by spikey outer petals. Petals edges create a slow visual twist and clockwise visual movement (circular, adds to suspension), I can almost see the flower opening.

White velvet: Light=energy. buds=new life. fibers=energy collectors. Life's power comes from within (? ), but think also that the surrounding space/energy and light relate/nourish the plant and visa versa. I get the warm fuzzies from this one.

Spider: orb walker/space spider. Without the web being obvious to me and the rather random distributiion of spheres and bokeh, the spider appears to tip toe through the dew drops. The OOF spider appears to be in motion in 3d space.

Veins: energy visualization. With the DPR thread graphics still etched in recent memory, I see this as a skyward view through a transparent leaf (? ) at night, stars/energy spots behind curtains of energy lines framed by the main stem. Thanks for not exiting through the corner, works sometimes I suppose.

Meanwhile, back on planet Earth:

I avoided any discussion of RO thirds, balance etc, while I see some composition rules come into play, I really don't know much about these matters and I think that your images and most I like are better appreciated without applying rules. Thanks for sharing.

At first I was thinking humm B&W flowers. the rose is really nice but the leaf on the left is a but too bright for me.
The second one I love everything about it.
