Not looking for discussion or debate on image quality, spec comparisons, auto-focus, etc. Just from a pure functional or technical perspective, has anyone had any luck mounting a Zuiko lens (Om or ED) on a Nikon DSLR (like a D90 or D300), either through the use of an adapter(s) or home-made solutions?

Currently experimenting with OM lenses on my E-510 (have OM 50mm 1.8 and 1.4, 28mm 2.8, Pentax SMC 50mm 1.4, etc.) using an OM to 4/3 adapter and having fun with manual focusing and such.

Considering getting a Nikon D90 or D300 in a few months as a second system to the wonderful Olympus collection and was wondering if there was any possible way to use some of my 4/3 or OM lenses on a Nikon body, granted I'll probably lose the auto-focus functionality and the like. Bit it would be awesome to see if I can use my 11-22mm, 14-54mm or the 35mm macro on a Nikon.

I could probably experiment with some home-made contraptions using bellows, caps and other stuff but there's got to be an easier or simpler way...don't mind manual focusing, as long as I have infinity focus and the Nikon will meter correctly. Image quality is second priority for me at this point. More interested in the technical possibility aspect.

Any thoughts or ideas?

I'm fairly sure the distance from the film/sensor plane of Nikon's F mount makes mounting most non-F mount lenses a problem. There may be some sort of adapter to mount Zuiko lenses, but I highly doubt they will have infinity focus.

I looked into this a while ago because I have access to quite a few old Minolta Rokkors. They won't work because the rear element of the lens would basically need to be inside the mirror housing to focus at infinity.

You might get a more concrete and educated answer asking this in the Nikon Lens forum.

I've never heard of any OM-to-Nikon adaptors, the other way: Nikon lenses-to-Olympus Fourthirds, there's plenty, and all with infinity focus too.

I think if there ever has been an OM lens-to-Nikon mount adaptor it would have to be ultra-thin to even allow the Zuiko lenses to work within macro range.

Check out this recent discussion, I'm only recently learning more of this subject myself:
