Just come back from Caribbean’s islands. A few shots to share. All by D300 and 17-55DX. Thank you for viewing.

Nice shots! You sure captured some interesting colors and images.
  1. 1: I really like this shot.
  2. 2: Very interesting capture...well done.
  3. 5: Nice composition. I would like it better if the shadows opened up a little more. Not an easy request, though!
  4. 8: Nice capture...I would like this one better if the object on the right border of the photo was cropped out. I find that a bit distracting.
  5. 9: Interesting photo.
  6. 10 & #12: Nice landscapes with beautiful clouds and lighting
Second to last image: Very nice!

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Glenn very much for your time to view, opinion and comments.

What did you use to make the frames in for your images. I use
Photoshop CS3, but those frames have stumped me.
--
I used Ulead PhotoImpact, no frame, just the canvas black-narrow and white-wide.

Really nice. All of them.

Favorites:
  1. 5 the shot of the staircase. Very luxurious.
  2. 12 The wide angle really gives you a feeling of the huge scale of that ship.
Also both shots of the girl. The lighting is very nice.

In CS3:

Image > Canvas Size > increase width and height 50 pixels (or so), Canvas extension color > Black

Now you have your small border

Repeat the above and increase the width and height 300 pixels (or so), and change Canvas extension color to White.

Repeat the above with Black again, insert text and you should be done.

Scott, I really appreciate that!

Great shots! I particularly like #6 and #10. I think #6 might be St. Thomas, but where were you in #10? We just got back from a similar cruise. Your pictures make us wish we were still there.

Earlier tonight we saw a great image of your ship's staircase, but before I could review the exif data the image was taken down. Would you mind telling me what ISO, aperature and shutter speed you chose? I'm still adjusting to the dSLR world and your images look quite a bit better than mine. Thanks for posting.

Hi Noledevil and thank you very much for comments and review. Comments and critics very important for me. #10 is St. Kitts. You absolutely right #6 are St. Thomas.

ISO all images is 200, Aperture and shutter variable. Most of them F9-13. Thanks again.

Beautiful colours and images....

I am new to forum (just got a D30) and am stunned by some of the great images I see people posting here, yours included.

Just wanted to say that as a newbie....these are great imo.

Thanks

Ray

Thank you Ray,
Welcome to the Great forum!

A nice trip. Caution, though, to straighten some of those horizons. A trivial correction that makes a big difference.

Quick tip for those unaware. Using the ruler in Photoshop drag it along something that should be level (horizontal or vertical). Then go to the rotate image menu and choose arbitrary - it automatically enters the offset from the ruler and will straighten the picture. Now just crop the edges of the rotated image and you're good to go. it's even easier in Lightroom as the crop is done for you.
