What bridge camera has best image quality?

But I guess you just want one of those small sensor compacts None as
perfect all-around not even close!
Er.. the kodiak P880 you mention is also a small sensor camera.

The panasonic G1 is a DSLR sized sensor and will produce by far the best results of any bridge camera.

Hi,
I suppose image quality is the most important thing....
so what bridge camera has the best image quality/best colour pics?
Whilst bridge cameras may not be as uniform in capability as entry level DSLRs, image quality isn't the most important thing.

Measurable IQ is one aspect - it is often discussed in gear reviews.
However, visual IQ is a combination of several factors.

Even more however, it's how the camera handles, the cost (overlapping into entry level DSLRs), handling, shutter lag, zoom lag, low light performance, etc... etc...

Your ability to get a shot you want with the camera you have is the most important thing. That's a combination of you and the camera.

Could also save more than a few dollars and buy its little brother.
For some reason, I was thinking of the Canon G9, so I dunno where the
A650 came from? Must've forgotten my tablets!

Sorry for any confusion — my bad.
That's OK. We got a good laugh. Everyone seems to have days when the neurons don't connect properly...

SO, are you now trying to say that the G1 and G9 have the "Same lens, same sensor"? ;-)

Yes Kalneil, the P880 is a small sensor camera but with twice the sensor size of most zoom cameras.

While the Pana G1 is Like a bridge camera in concept it has a DSLR sized sensor and in my book does not quite fit the historical definition of a bridge camera that has always been an advanced point & shoot and usually larger than most of them.

It certainly has the Size of a bridge and I WILL own the HD video successor to the G1 someday!
I do appreciate your nomination of the G1 as IT is the future WAY!

Um... err... now I don't know exactly what I'm trying to say... I think?

A650 lens and sensor = G9 lens and sensor?

Please tell me I've got it right... at last LOL.

Yes Ananda as usual you are correct but if all the original poster wants is best IQ and color, you won't find a better solution than a P880 that can still be bought new or nearly so and at a Low price! at least on Ebay

When I say Reference Color I mean a fashion designer will get the exact shade they see on the original certainly closer than any other bridge camera made to date and I have studied them all just as closely as the P880.

I took the color IQ test that was talked about recently where you create an exact order of all the colors tho they are all very close in shade, hue etc. I got a perfect score but my eyes were hurting in the end: I took my time as it was Important to me as I hope it is for you too.

Put any cameras color chart next too the P880 and observe how the middle gray is the exact color and the other camera is off!. that means that the White Balance is perfectly set and WB is CRITICAL to getting good color: look at the p880 vs. fuji 9000 on the DC views review site and look at the test box shots for what I mean!
