So is smart to get 5D mark ii right now?

I"m in korea now and the 5D mark ii is cheaper than the states here. Knowing that 5D mark ii have "black dot" problem and knowing that canon is aware of it right now should I still get the 5D mark ii?

Go to one of the Canon Plaza stores and try one out. You can do test shots by aiming at the lights in the ceiling. You can examine the shot afterwards on the LCD panel and check for black spots.

Do you like to gamble, or would it be better to wait a while and see if Canon takes care of the problem? Just because they're aware of it doesn't mean they're going to fix it soon, or properly.

thanks for the reply. Yeah thats the thing. I remember reading that 1ds mark iii had some similar problem 4 years ago and they still didn't fix it. I don't know what to do now seriously. sigh~

Reviews aside, the real world abilities of the 5D2 are stunning. The shots taken in awkward circumstances have been incredible. As is the video. Out in the world, in the field this camera is basically a new ball game. And Canon will take care of a black dots for me later. I don't care. I am quite grateful to have one to use.

The 1Ds Mk3 hasn't been out for that long, maybe 18 months. In the short time it has been out, no one has complained about "black dots", so what similar problem are you refering to?
