Was kind of slow in getting this. But now I just could not find any Ebay cashback on Live.com's search results. Is it dead? Can anyone confirm this?

I looked earlier today and it had dropped down to 15%. I just checked now, and it does seem to have ended. That's a shame. It truly offered some amazing deals.

I was just checking that myself and was dissapointed not to see it. Looks like my purchase of a Sony 70-300 ssm g with a $200 cashback and 10% off ebay coupon was timed perfectly.

I made the same purchase this past week with the instant 30% off & 10% coupn - should receive the lens on Tuesday - looking forward to it!

...I will boycott Live Search for good. Ever since I started using it, my spam has gone up 200%, mostly from live.com accounts. Thanks a lot Microsoft.

Was yours an instant 30% off? My cashback is going to be $200, and with the 10% it will knock off $280 from the price I paid.

Yes - mine was an instant 30% for some reason. I bought the lens from Focuscamera1 on eBay. I did also buy the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 just a few days earlier from 47th Street Photo on eBay with the on the same deal, but that $200 is sitting at Pending on my cashback account for another 53 days... No clue why I got the instant cashback either. The Sigma is now back on eBay though - it was way too heavy for what I want and on the A300 the focusing speed was not anything to be too impressed with - at least for me.

I would not worry about this.. This is happened several times in the last few months. This is a colaborative thing between Microsoft, PayPal and Ebay. I contacted all of them about this a month ago when it appeared to be gone, and was told that they have no plans to stop this offer. Just because its down today, tomorrow it may be back to 30%. The percentage can vary daily. Just keep logging in.

I've use Live Search numerous times (only for cashback searches) and have seen no increase in spam whatsoever. Of course, the chances that I will ever use Live Search as my regular search engine are about equal to my chances of buying the new Nikon D3X.

It's nice to hear that it may still be alive. I think Microsoft can increase their internet search hits by turning its cashback program on and off. The potential buyers have to log on and search on Live.com to know if cashback is back and the cash back rate. What a smart but expensive move for MS.

I have been worried about flagrant schemes to beat the program to get undeserved cash back that may kill it altogether.

Some folks never learned right from wrong it seems. I had two sons in that category who learned their values and defiance from convention from junkie musicians advocating pot then drugs that finally killed the 49 year old younger one last January.

You can't tell them their workaround schemes are wrong because they feel if you can possibly get away with it, --it's OK. After all that's how their music superheroes won their fame and fortune. Be cool. (FU Dad, you don't know what's going on.)

Don't be surprised when Microsoft withdraws it for good. They are not so dumb as not to see the cheating going on. We, the old school, are outnumbered now.

Tom,

My condolescences on your son.

I'm not sure how any schemes really factor in, though. Each transaction incurs the same fees and collects the same rebate, regardless of whether the sale is "legitimate" or not. Microsoft spends the same amount of money, Ebay collects the same amount of money.

I'd say we're all "scheming" if we don't intend to actually use live.com as a search engine, are we not?

I think the 15% really limits the churn, though...after 8% in fees, the ability to buy and sell similarly priced items is no longer profitable. I know many people probably tried out the 70-300SSM without risk and probably made money on the deal. That is in compliance with Ebay's T&C's, by the way.

But currently only offering 8% back for eBay purchases... Which is still better than not getting any discount!

You bought my 70-300G! It was there one minute on Focus Camera’s Ebay store, and when I clicked buy, it was gone. (:-(

But seriously, congratulations. Enjoy this nice new lens. I am hoping that some discounts would still be available when the 70-400G comes out in January.

The reason you got instant cash back is because of a screw up during black Friday. HP was offering 40% off and the system went down and many people were left hung out to dry. So, MSN offered instant cash back to random customers.

I've seen the 10% Ebay coupon mentioned a couple of times. Where did you get it, please?
