I can't remember if I have already posted these photos. I was testing the camera and was trying to assess how accurate were the colours and how sharp they were.
Please indulge me if I am repeating myself.

The first ones are flowers near my house and I had no time to crop or compose them.

The others are sunsets taken from my balcony:

And that is all. Comments will be very welcome and UNDAH, I am trying to start again.
Please conduct the orchester, because this musician is quite tired.
Best wishes to all,
Joao

I have not seen these before. They are quite good! Especially the sunset pictures.

So how do you feel about the color? Are these color corrected? If not I'd say your cam appears to be spot-on.

Color is a funny thing directly out of a camera.

I had an Olympus, and I could see what people referred to as 'Olympus color'. Later I got a minolta, and could see the difference in color response. Hard to pin down, but it's something along the lines of Oly having a cooler feel at the right time (sky and water) and Minolta having a warmer, more yellowish feel in full sun. They were both nice but different.

I could go on and on, with Canon, Panasonic, Sony, but I want to get back to the casio. My casio V8 seems quite neutral which is nice. I attribute this to good white-balance. And the adjustments you can make in-cam are effective. I do what Ken Rockwell does, often selecting cloudy white balance for richer colors outdoors.

Undah:

I think they are quite correct. In fact, as I already said on this forum, I prefer these colours and sharpness to the TZ5 ones, which I also own. Different cameras for different purposes, I like them both, but I prefer the Casio colours without applying any PP. But, as you know, this is a very subject subject and highly dependent of our own tastes.
Kind regards,
Joao

The colors are excellent, so is sharpness for such a compact camera. I still have

ex 750 and now S10 but it sucks...kind of...If I could find pink one I'd most likely buy it for my wife.

I'm just an amateur shooting bunch of Jpeg's and hoping every once in a while something comes out OK.

Hi Akjos:
Thank you very much.

Keep using your cameras and since we don't pay for "more pictures" like with the film ones, shoot and shoot again and keep the better ones. They will come, I am sure.
And post your worst and best examples.
Best regards,
Joao

I love the 1080. I use windshield mount on my car and shot wide 848x480 (aka 480i) mov files. Incredible output and work them in QT Pro.

Rube:

I think you took the right decision. Please post some pictures as soon as you have them.
Kind regards,
Joao

Dear Joao. Timber and all EX-Z1080 users. I thank you for good advice: I bought this little camera this summer and I am very satisfied with it. Although sometimes I have to use my Sigma SD-14. I spend a couple of weeks in Peru and took several hundred shots. Some of them are incredibly sharp. As the wonderful clothes of the poor village girls from the Andes.

I wish you a happy new year 2009!

There are other shots from Peru available here:

Hi Janka:

Wonderful photos you have made in Peru. I am very pleased with your joy using the Z1080 and also wish you a great New Year.
Kind regards,
Joao

Fabulous pictures.

I'm trying to decide between staying with casio or jumping shop back to canon now that they have H.264 video compression on the latest and greatest.

How does the 1080 hold up against the new canon 880IS?

Thanks

Thank you very much for your nice comment.
Sincerely, I will maintain the Casio as a pocket camera.
