DK-19 rubber eye cup

I use the DK-19 on my D3. It was very easy to attach and I am quite pleased with it. The rubber is soft enough that it folds forward if I want it out of the way or when I put the camera back in the bag. It works both for me both with glasses and without (contact lenses).

I have been using one for a while on the D3 and I love it but, because of frequent flattening when taking pictures, about 3/4 of it has ripped and is haning on by a thread. It took about 9 months for this to happen.

I have a DK-19 on the D3, which uses the same mounting as the D700. The eyecup is difficult to attach, although I am perfectly comfortable with the procedure because I have added so many eyecups on cameras. Chances are you will not understand the instructions completely or their inadequate diagram. Have your lens cleaner and soft cloth ready. The eyepiece must be cleaned after the rubber is attached.

The DK-19 is great on the D700 and very easy to install.

Yes it's a great little add on to the camera.

At the same time I also added the DK17M which is a magnifying eyepiece which make the image a little larger.

BTW, remember to put on the lever to cover rear eye piece shutter to the 'up' position to unloosen the DK-19 otherwise no amount of twisting will loosen the eyepiece...
Of course I didn't read the instructions...

I like mine on the D700 and a different one on the D300 when I shoot sports. I added the non-fog glass eyepiece for the hockey rinks as well.

I see Hoodman has come out with an eyepiece as well, that may be worth checking out. It's not listed at B- and -H, but I have really liked their right angle finder. I think I saw the eyepiece in this month's Outdoor Photographer as an ad in the back.

Nikon has added the metal ring to the rubber cup. At least, one was included in the box with the eyecup I ordered last spring.
