I would like to register Sony Singapore for the world record in fixing DLS. I have carried it in yesterday at about 10:30 am.
Today at 11:00 am they called me that it is redy for colectio.
So far looks great, vigneting is symetrical and laser hologram AF works as well.
I still have to test it on the sky, but I think it is OK.

I think about 24 hours qualifies Sony Singapore for world record in dealing with this problem. Or anyone got it fixed faster?

I also understand now why Sony did not recall the DLS series - the LBA as a sparepart cost almost 1200 SGD (660 USD) while the price of the camera itself is 1999 SGD. It would be quite expensive for them to let people know about this problem.

Sigh! bezucho, you are very lucky!

i was just told by Sony Singapore on the second day (which was yesterday) after i brought my 707 in for the DLS fix that it would take them "between two weeks to a month" as the are waiting for the parts from Japan! sigh! sigh! sigh!

pardon my ignorance, but they said something about the Carl Z lens, is that part of the LBA?

Ying,

That pretty much is the Lens Barrel Assembly, the CZ lens that is. I bet it's because CZ is sooo busy churning out the lenses for the DSC-909 that they can't interupt production to run a batch of "old lenses" ;-)

Just kiddin about the 909,
Steve
