I have been off of the radar for awhile. Family and friends with severe medical issues, work, and post Ike work.

Anyway...finally took the time to thumb through a few shots and picked one to share:

Hope all is well with you and yours.

That's the FZ50 in action is it? It is a lovely photo. How did you
do it?
You are correct. It was taken with my FZ50 and FL50. It was PP to get the final result. A combination of gradient maps and lens blur (gaussian) on diffent layers to control the depth and feel, shadow highlight adjustment and selective color to balance color and control detail of items in the frame, a bit of coloning, and a light photo filter.

I am pleased with the result though my selection and blending capability still needs a good deal of refining.

Nice to see you back Ron, hope all is well with your problems now!
Thanks. My godchild had the following and was touch and go during her 2 weeks in the hospital:

RSV (Viral)
Influenza A (Viral)
Influenza B (Bacterial)
Strep pneumonia
Moraxella
Klebsiella pneumonia
Pertussis

She is home now and recovering.

My grandmother had a stroke on the Sunday November 1st and passed the following Sunday. She was 91 years old and up until then had lived in her home (i.e. very independent). Her suffering was minimal and she was able to say goodbye to the family before she passed. We are sad, but happy that she is at peace.
This is a precious picture, and she is a beautiful little girl, if I
had to criticize it would only be it's a pity her foot is not all
there.
I will try to keep this in mind during future photo ops. Do you think a crop of some sort might improve on it?

... and you did excellent job with PP. I would never guess you
blurred the background ...
Thank you... if you look at the top of the pillow on the right and the hairline or the left arm you can see were my selection or blending was off.

Here is the original for comparison:

I never would have noticed that little blending flaw Ron. You should have kept it as your own little secret!!! LOL :) This is such an adorable photo and I really appreciate all of your PP work here. You did good!

I'm so sorry for your loss Ron. On the other hand, I'm glad to hear your God daughter is home recuperating. She's only a few months old isn't she? Is this the same child that was born recently? Poor little pumpkin. She really was sick!

Hi Ron,

So glad to see your post..and wow, she is growing up! I can't tell them apart..so not sure which of your 2 beautiful little ladies this one is! Love her expression..and nicely captured by Dad!! :) I like your PP..and think you did a great job with it! Which PP prgram are you using?

Happy to hear the baby is home and doing well..I didn't know about this. I'm very sorry to hear about your Gandmother..I hope you are comforted by your many happy memories of her.

I've not been able to get in here as often as in the past, but always nice to tune in and find friends!

Stay well my friend, and cuddles to the girls!!

Trying to be critical of my work so that it will improve. But next time maybe we can play a game of "Find the Flaws".

Thanks. My ability has not yet reached that which I can envision for a particular shot, but I do believe that I am getting closer. The journey...not the destination.
I'm so sorry for your loss Ron
Thank you. She will be greatly missed.

You are correct. She was only 10 weeks old when this all started. Needless we were worried she might not make it. Hopefully she has had her share for the next year or so.

A Wonderful shot Ron. All the shots you post of your girls carry that special father duaghter love, that is so evident I just know these were taken by dad and not a by a stranger.

I'm impressed by your pp, something I'm just starting to learn, and I feel I have so much I don't know about, and so little time to learn it :)

Sorry to hear about your grandmother, I lost a very special grandfather a few years ago, to whom I was very deeply connected, and who suffered quite a bit in the last couple of years. May it be of some comfort to you that as time goes bye you don't remember the sadness of death, but all those great memories of life, I hope I express myself well enough in English, my heart is with you.

Glad to hear the little one came out of it o.k. Tell her she doesn't have to try every illness in the book

Be well

Hi Ron,

So glad to see your post..and wow, she is growing up! I can't tell

This is a picture of Emma. She is 32 months here and growing like a weed.
Love her expression..and nicely captured by Dad!! :) I like
your PP..and think you did a great job with it! Which PP prgram are
you using?
Thanks. I am using Adobe Photoshop (CS3).
Happy to hear the baby is home and doing well..I didn't know about
this.
Me too. Unfortunately, I just got a text message that she is going back to the hospital. She is not eating, dehydrated, and she is requiring more than expected breathing treatments.
I'm very sorry to hear about your Gandmother..I hope you are
comforted by your many happy memories of her.
Thank you. I am comforted.

Glad to see ya slumming ;-). The girls are a handful these days and therefore we have to hug them more :-).

I hope all is well with you and your crew. I need to visit the Oly forum more so that we can keep up with each other. I miss your regular posts here and pics of the little one.

Thank you. I love taking pictures of my girls. They are my life.

I am on the same learning curve as you. There is so much that I do not know. One day my ability will catch up to my imagination.

Thank you. Sadness and joy.

She is now back in the hospital. Very touch and go. Praying and support have resumed.

Hi ISSMER!!

Welcome back, I hope everything is alright with your family, friends and you.

One very cute, childs are fun all the time, my firt impresion was it was taken with DSLR system by bokeh? (is well said?) yes but had to right clik and see exif (in Opera web browser it works), sharp subject, I like the warm colors, composition looks spontaneous.

Thanks Misa.

I am glad to hear that my post processing has become a bit more transparent. I finally found a mix of techniques that I believe approximate brokeh fairly well.

All of the really good pictures of my girls are spontaneous. I generally can not get them to sit still long enough to pose for a picture. When I have been successful in getting them to sit still, the result looked forced. This picture as taken during a game of dress up. I had to run and get the camera before she stopped feeling silly.
