Jeff just published G10 and G1 sample galleries. G10's image looks much crisper in the following samples. It looks like G10's glass is top grade.

G1's mighty good compared to G10 at ISO400, except for some chrome (color) noises.

Looking at the top left corner of G10 near the words Hotel Astoria, there appears to be a lot of CA and looking at the verticle ladder rail, there appears to be a halo of too much sharpening.

Otherwise, when viewed at normal size it appears a nice photo.

you're right...but i'd be more interested to compare the two as 8x10 prints.

maybe i'll do that as a time-waster later on.

The Comparometer at Imaging Resouce shows that the Panasonic G1 images are far better that those from the G10. The contest is not even close.

yes, sir.

but "comparometer" aint nutn'. i'm working on a time travel machine in my garage.

Forgive me if this is an ignorant post, but I understood that the G1 should have better dynamic range based on the pixel density but on the first two image posted here from DCresource, the details on the tall bulding - the vertical lines of the window- are completely gone or blown in the G1 image.

I also looked at imaging resource comparisons and I don't see any difference in DR for the outdoor shot.

Is it my old and poor eyes?!

The G1 sample looks over exposed to me. I would prefer samples shot in a more controlled environment like imaging-resource.com.

When he does camera shots on dcresource, he usually uses default out of the box camera settings, the kit lens, and uses JPG. You will get more dynamic range from RAW images converted to JPG, but unless there's some special gallery up, he doesn't do that normally. All this shows is that out-of-box, the G1 tends to blow JPG shots in highlights, but with tweaking and/or shooting RAW, most likely much of this would not be an issue.

All you have to do is learn how to use the live histogram to control blown highlights.
