Selling Erotic pictures? How?

Hi!

A friend of mine would like to sell nude and erotic images online that he made. Could you suggest a site where this could be possible with a high chance of actually selling them?

I suggest that you log on to the internet and do a search for nude and erotic photos. You will get roughly 4.3 bazillion sites to check out.

Images4sale is one location, you have the most control there, but a search will show others. A lot are dependent on the specific genre of images you have. Some take freelance/independent photographers and some just use staff photographers.

but you are most likely to make the most money if you have your own site and a regular shooting schedule and then advertise like crazy.

Also make sure you have followed Title 18, chapter 2257 to the letter as far as ID paperwork is concerned.

Finally don't expect to make a lot of money off still images these days, unless they actually fall into the fine art category or are a niche category few others are doing.

I don't think that this or any of the canon forums are the right ones to be posting this thread in. Your question should instead be posted in the Pro Digital Talk or Open Talk forum. Considering you said that you wanted a more pro answer, the Pro Digital Talk forum is the place.

This forum is about Canon gear and related talk. How to set up an erotic photography business is not related.

I agree with the suggestion that you type erotic photography into google That should be interesting...

Model release ! Model release ! And Copies of the model's I.D. are a must. Google fine-art nudes, glamour photography etc. too find out about marketing fine-art nudes.

It appears as though you set up your own store quickly and easily on this site. I've never tried it nor do I know anyone that has. Seems very popular and legit. I hope this helps and would really be interested in what you find out.

Your 'friend' has a problem.

Everyone wants to shoot naked ladies. The only ways to stand out are exceptional technique and exceptional models. If your are an average shooter with a great model she'll get re-shot and you won't make money. If you're a great shooter with an average model no one cares.

You need models who are new and unseen and to be able to shoot them well.

Then you need an outlet prepared to pay a fair price. The adult market is dying thanks to the openness of the internet and easy access to erotic material. The established pros - many of whom I know - are having a tough time. If you don't have an angle and a website it can be very hard to break in.

It depends on the nature of the images.



Understated sexy-erotic, moody, suggestive, etc can be canvas printed and sold for wall hangings.

Plumbing shots? Forget it..

On-line sales? I'd not bother.. there are millions of wet plumbing shots and moody half-seen erotic shots.. people can grab free pix or steal full size porno site pix.

The market on-line is glutted with suggestive tame-erotic and wet and squirty hard porn.

I'd aim for the real world sales of large canvas all art.
