Taken in sports mode; it is hard to believe the planes were flying so fast I think TZ5 has captured them quite well; I had to crop the F1 11 with after burner as the speed was so great it was difficult to get it in the frame.

Love that formation of planes through the ages Anne - not something you'll see very often.

Sure someone else will know, but my guess is that it goes like this: P51 Mustang, Venom, Meteor, PASS, and lastly maybe an F16 or F18 ?

Did I get any right?

Yes, a great line-up.
4th = Hawk (as in UK Red Arrows)
5th = F18 (USN call it Hornet I think)

overall these are nice shots. But then to think that they came from a compact camera... that has a 28mm wide angle as well. That's really something.

Thanks for your comments, I was pleased at the way the camera captured such fast moving subjects. Amazng for such a little camera.

Thanks for looking, I too love the formation, it was a great sight to see planes that span so many years with such diverse technology, flying side by side.

From memory you are correct, the 5th is F18 it is the replacement for F 111

Great shots from you and the TZ5!

Thanks Dan it was a good day, most enjoyable trying to capture those wonderful planes.

Thanks or you interest Peter, my apoligies or not replying sooner, I waited to ask my son more about the planes, they are
Mustang, Vampire, Meteor, Hawk and F18 (Hornet)

He said if you are interested you can find out more at "Temora Avaition Museum/Warbirds Collection". Australia is retiring the F 111 so we will not see that formation again.

I did not sharpen this image so perhaps it would look better with some sharpening.

Cheers
