Where to buy camera/lenses in San Francisco?

Now I have finally decided what I want to buy, I need to decide where to buy it!

A friend is going to the US in a week or so and has offered to purchase it over there if it works out cheaper, depending on the state of the $$. First of all I just want to compare prices.

However, we have no idea of reputable stores etc.

He's going to be in San Francisco, so preferably somewhere located there, (or at a pinch, an online store).

I'm looking for a D300 and 24-70mm lens.
