Does anyone have the 35mm Hartblie super rotator lens with full tilt and shift function. I took a risk and recently ordered one and it arrived yesterday. So far only a few tests such as the moth below at a local botanical garden. I am trying to get the hang of the tilt and shift functions and trying to get more depth of field in macros and landscapes. Let me know your experiences with this or the Pentax 28mm shift lens. i also want to try the shifr function for buidlings to see how that works. Note that this picture was taken with my *istD.

I'd be interested to hear what you think of the lens. Just out of curiousity, where did you order the lens from? I've been considering one, but their website says its currently out of stock and that availability would be reflected on their price list.

Thanks,
Lib

Heh, nice shot! That guy is local to where I live, we just saw one the other day. He was on the underside of a plastic lounge chair - my photo didn't turn out nearly as nice. Let us know what you think of the lens!

I have not this lens, but I have the Hartblei 120/2,8 T&S super rotator. I use it for close up of insects and flowers, copled with Nikkor close up lenses 5T and 6T.

It is very good, with a very smooth bokeh. The handling is somehow awkward due to the protruding pentaprism of the modern DSRL, which interfere with the leverage for controlling rotation of the tilting mechanism. Everything else is easy.

Ah, I did buy it from Grizzlybear on eBay, a seller specialized on photo items from Ukraine...

Some time back I bought a Ukrainian T/S lens of a different brand. It worked great on 35 mm film. On an APS-C sensor, though, I found that the function that gives greater depth of field (can't recall whether that is tilt or shift) did not work so well. DOF was not noticeably extended on the smaller format.

The Hartblei 35 Super Rotator T/S is a monster of a lens and it takes some time to get the hang of it. As noted in an earlier post, the overhanging pentaprism housing somtimes makes it awkward to access the T/S controls. Metering must be done manually, of course. It's no speed demon but for static setups it does allow me to put the focal plane pretty much wherever I want it.

Optical quality is just OK wide open, but it sharpens up when stopped down. I wish the focal length was shorter but I guess I'll just have to wait for a FF Pentax!

For as little as I use it I might have been better off buying the much cheaper Arsat TS lens. It's not as robust in construction, though.
