i'm now convinced, very convinced!

that 1D MK III is really an all-around camera!

from sports, to sexy, so PJ work, to commerical/product, to glamour... and to a fast phased fashion shows IN THE MALL!!

"FASHION SHOW... haha... that's the easiest to shoot my man!"

no my man... i figured, fashion shows IN THE MALL, with thousands of people, is one of the hardest and challenging to shoot!

very tight space, you can't just walk around and change spots, i'm stock in one spot! the models, they will NOT pose for you! after the shoot i felt like i just lost 10 lbs!! and it's like i took a shower, instant workout!

setup:
AI servo
Custom AF points used
7fps
JPG file format
70-200mm f/2.8 IS # 2

If there's one thing a newspaper man knows, it's the importance of advertisements. Keep up the good work.

haha...

maybe Canon will use me to test their future products...

there's really nothing wrong with that... and Canon is aware of this...

who knows... LOL...

but anyway... mk III's AI servo is really amazing!! in these series of shows i'm getting about 85% IN-FOCUS images in AI servo...

Canon you now where to find me...

Extremely good test for the Servo focus with those fast moving subjects! Just like track runners! And very bright sunlight too! Lol

Don't take offense, just having a little laugh here. Not bad photos, but really unrelated to the well known focus issues.

haha... none taken... LOL...

shoot, eat, drink and swim!!! haha...

assuming it was a long shoot. I did a couple of fashion shows and it
was grueling.

I really like the tilted orientation in some of the shots--------well
done as always NM!

Thanks for sharing.

his 1DMKIII can't even focus on One Shot mode. And like I said previously, I can do this with my 1DMKIII blindfolded.

good one jose!

even though "fashion show" is NOT as fast phase as pro sports... this shoot is also a real challenge... the fashion and glamour photogs can attest to this...

and if you have a bad or slow AI servo... all you can do is wait for the models and dancers to stop walking/moving and pose (then shoot)...

Oh no! It was crowded and you had to hand hold your camera for more than 5 minutes! The horror! Shoulder to shoulder with the masses and somehow you survived all those candid moments and walked away with a few decent pics. How very brave.
You want crowds and difficult conditions? Try a packed fair on a 95 degree day:

http://earthsworld.com/2006/061021/source/crw_4883.html

The more crowded it is and the hotter it becomes, the more i thrive.

btw, the reason your skintones look like dump is due to jpeg with NR.

If you would like proof that the 1D3's AF can perform well under difficult AF conditions, just browse the gallery on my website. The type of photography I do is about as demanding on AF as it gets. Most of the images you will see were made at effective focal lengths between 650mm and 1820mm. The performance of a working 1D3 blows away anything else out there including my 1D2N.

what did you use to set white balance?
--

if this question is addressed to me... i used Daylight...

the roof of the mall is see-through glass with some white sheets under so people won't get blinded too much...

about the red skintones... i can really adjust this... but didn't care too much because i have to put these images up on the web for my client within 10-hrs after the shoot... and it worked they were so amazed with the images and liked them a lot!

that's all i really care about... and the mall will be my future advertiser... that's what really matters to me...
