It's hard not to smile when one sees a butterfly. Here are some that live in Texas. Please share some of yours too! :-)

those are wonderful...thanks for posting.

Cheers,

I'm not photographing them, I'm just getting them from looking at yours. They're beautiful. I don't think it's a good idea, though, to let the framing cause one of the antennae to get fuzzed out. Those long skinny poles seem like part of the creatures face, so you shouldn't mess with them. I think that you have to be patient and quick to shoot butterflies. Their movement is random, then suddenly they settle down in front of you. You have to just wait and wait, and then react quickly. I'm not good at those things so I don't have any great butterfly shots like these.

Absolute Stunners Sky!, these are remarkable captures, and wonderfully displayed. Sky have you ever had any of your pics published in a magazine? Because these, and so many of your shots, definitely belong there. It is great to see you posting again Sky, you were greatly missed.

They are extremely beautiful and well-composed. Very well-done.

What camera did you use to shoot these pictures (not s1.....?)

Sorry :

If you don't mind I post some b-fly shots taken with a fuji cam here. But if u do, please just ignore them :

Oh my - those are gorgeous!!! Beautiful colors and a delight to view. There is just something magical about butterfilies, isn't there?

Mine were shot with the H2. I too have a Fuji (s100fs), and I really do enjoy its performance.

Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your beautiful butterflies, Tony.

about the frame. I really wish I had the original back. :-(

And thank you so much for your kind comments, John! :-)

About those details.... I try to get as close to the subject as possible and work with the light.

Kris, I love digital because I was unable to afford film in the 'good old days' of photography. I would have went broke really fast. I take a lot of photos, and about 99% of what I take, gets deleted. For about every 10 shots of something I take, I may have 1 keeper - if I'm lucky.

Thank you again so much for your kind comments. :-)

You know, this year they have been so scarce. Last year - was a wonderful year for insects and butterflies. We are in a drought, so I think that has a lot to do with it.

Thank you again, Garold!
