I've been using Micrografx Picture Publisher 8 for a few years and really love it...especially for the masking and cloning tools and their ease of use...I just downloaded a 30-day trial version of Picture Publisher Pro 10...thankfully I have dsl, because it was over 40mb...and it's just terrific.

If you don't own Adobe Photoshop (and I do) and want a really terrific editing program you owe it to yourself to take a look at this program.

You'll find a link to download at http://www.micrografx.com/mgxproducts/picturepublisher.asp

Don't bother with the digital camera version...it's very limited.

Micrografx program's are superb and affordable. I started with Picture Publisher 6 and "upgraded" to Photoshop. I never checked out the later version of PP, but I always recommend it to anyone who asks for advice about which program to buy.

Do they still sell Draw?

Isabel,

Micrografx sold Draw a couple of years ago and I don't remember who bought it. I beta tested Draw and liked how easy it was to layout template designs but MG decided to focus on its high end line.

Actually, that was my question, but it doesn't matter. I checked out the MG website and yup, it's gone. I noticed that they have a connection to Corel now (who doesn't these days?) and I guess it's reasonable to assume that Corel didn't want Draw competing with their own products... ?

I have Draw 5 and it's just a great, simple and actually quite powerful tool. It's got great beziér tools which are easy to learn. It was my introduction to vector drawing and I'm glad I started with it and not something like Freehand, or I may not have gotten very far....

Hello Isabel, I am useing Micrografx Picture Publisher 6 at my work and have been for the last couple of years because they are too tight to go upgrade my software but I still love the program, I work in R&D and use MG Picture Publisher 6 to line draw our products for price lists, I bought PS 5.5 really cheap for home about 12 months ago but soon upgraded to PS6 and love it to death. Recently put my hand up for voluntary redundancy so I will be out of a job for the first time in 24 years so I'll be trying hard to get into imageing as my next job, maybe along the lines of photo restoration and printing. Sorry for rambling.
All the best

You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be led.

I agree! I have used PP8 since early 2000 and I am very pleased with it. Sometimes I can mask things easier with it than I can with Photoshop Elements. I'm a creature of habit though, and it seems that I open Photoshop Elements more often these days, maybe I should look at PP10.
