Hi,

Just a quick question to any EOS 40D owners out there. Please can you let me know if the lower pin of the Wired Remote Control plug in point on the left-hand side of the camera is recessed more than the the two above it.

Schematically it looks like this:

O O
O -------------------- This one?

I am trying to work out why my remote control won't work and need to know if the pins are not contacting due to a hardware fault on the camera, or whether it's a fault with the remote control itself. The lower pin on my camera looks to be about 50% shorter than the two above it.

Any help is much appreciated.

Yours aye,

Stray.

On both my 20D and 40D, all three pins are the same length.

I wonder if one of yours got pushed in somehow so that now it cannot make proper contact to the remote's connector.

All pins are the same height on my 40D, 5D and 1D. Send it in for repair rather then messing with it yourself, it must be loose. Are you sure it hasn't been broke off?

Thanks Jim, Steve and acs55812.

I've only owned it for 3 months so it's going back to the shop for replacement/repair.

I appreciate your responses - thank you all for your help.

Obviously I'm pretty disappointed though........
