I have been on this forum asking some questions about Kodak cameras. My name is Tony Albanese and learning about digital photography. In a short story my first digital camera was a Kodak CX6330 I bought at Sears in 2004. In Sept. of 2004 I was involved in a very bad airplane crash. You can read more about me on my website http://www.friendsoftony.com After I got out of the hospitol I bought a Canon xti Rebel and returned it because it was to much camera for me. I decided to go back and look at the Kodak cameras and liked the P712 that I bought in 2006 for about 450.00. I learned how to take some very nice pictures with it.

Since I recently bought a used P880 on ebay and ended up buying 2 more P880's. Thats my story in a nut shell and thank you for reading and I hope to meet other Kodak users.

Hi Tony...the P880 is a gem, I too have three !! (all bought on E-Bay)...if I ever see a P712 cheap I will also get one of those....but the P880 is my favourite....often I prefer it to my expensive DSLR setup...much lighter too

Anyway...hello from me

Hey Tony.....nice to have you here! I have never owned a P880, but many people on this forum sing it's praises all the time. Too bad Kodak never continued with the P-Series line.

Kodak has made some really nice cameras in the past. I used to have a DX6440, which took really nice photos.....along with many other older Kodak models. I still have and use my old reliable DX7590. (Along with my Canon Rebel XT.) I just ordered myself a new Z1085. (And my wife just received her new Z1012 the other day.) We'll see how these new models stack up against the DX7590.

Glad to have you here & looking forward to seeing some of your shots.
I'm new here too and can tell you there are alot of very nice folks here.

Dan.

Thanks for sharing that link with us. Just getting used to using the camera after the accident would have been a challenge. I'm glad you didn't give up, and I would love to see some of your pictures.

Welcome to the forum Tony. I read about your airplane crash. Sorry, to hear about it, and the severe burns and injuries that followed. A while back, I read about Project Walk, for those that recovered or partially recovered from severe spinal injuries that have caused paralysis. If you haven't read about that recovery center in Carlsbad, California, you might want to check it out on the internet. Some may benefit from this specialized treatment, depending on the severity of the injury. If I'm not mistaken, some quadriplegics have begun to walk after very long term extensive therapy.

We look forward to seeing your pictures. There's a number of people on this forum that really like the P880. I'm still hanging on to my Kodak Z740, and occasionally you'll see some pictures that I post. A few days ago I posted a series of pictures with no people around Portland, Oregon, under dark, rainy and gloomy skies. This time, weather and time permitting, I'd like to show the same photos filled with people...maybe with even some sun. :)

Wow, I thought I was the only dinosaur still using (and enjoying) the Z740. I love this cam. My wife recently got an Oly FE-340 (a point and shoot cam), and although it is easier to carry, the pics from it don't match the Kodak color. Her's uses a LION battery and we had to buy a back-up at about $40, and of course, the Z740 works fine on AA batteries. I bought a box (actually 4 boxes of 4 batteries per box for $20) of Energizer E2 Lithium batteries, and that seems to be enough to last for a couple of years! These things go on and on...

I thought about upgrading to a newer camera, but I asked myself "what does the Z740 not do now that it did when I bought it?", and"what do I need it to do now that it can't?", and the answerr to both questions was "nothing". So, I will keep this little cam till its dying day.

I also am smitten with my 740...it just does the trick for me...send some pics if you can, looking forward to seeing them as I'm fairly new here. RG
