I went to the golf course this morning and next door to the course is the Okeeheelee Nature Center. I stopped there for about 1/2 hour and took a few photos outside the building. I did not go on any of the trails, etc. Here are a few images I captured with the E-510 and 70-300mm, hand held. C&C welcomed.

Dragon Fly. ISO 400, 1/125 sec., f/10, 300mm

Butterfly. ISO 400, 1/640 sec., f/10, 141mm

Looks like a Mourning Dove. ISO 200, 1/1000 sec., f/5.6, 300mm

Another Butterfly. ISO 200, 1/500 sec., f/10, 300mm

Great shots as usual. It sure looks like the 70-300 works well. I am looking to pick one up soon. I was looking for the Sigma lens but they don't have one for the e-510. I will most likely pick up the Oly lens then. I always enjoy your posts. I assume you used a tripod or did your segeory skills come in handy again with no shake........

That Dove is either winking at you, or givin' you the old "Stink eye".

Thank you for looking and for your comments. These are all hand held shots. For an in-depth report of the 70-300mm lens, you should read, if you haven't yet, Wrotniak's review of the lens. Here is the link: http://www.wrotniak.net/photo/43/zd-070-300.html

When I came upon this tree, there were a few birds in it, but a squirrel flushed them away - all except 2 doves and this is one of them. I guess it was being extra cautious.

The dove is a "Monty Python & the Holy Grail" fan: "I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!"

The bird appears to be concerned that there is someone lurking behind it and is saying "uh-oh, what next".
